Energy efficiency standards (EES) researchers produce technical, economic, and environmental analyses, primarily to support the development of energy efficiency standards for appliances, lighting, and other equipment. Composed of staff from various academic disciplines, the researchers in these fields offers a broad range of expertise primarily in support of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Appliance & Equipment Standards program and its mission to promulgate standards that achieve the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is both technologically feasible and economically justified. They have developed a unique and powerful set of core capabilities, including:
In addition to its analytical expertise, EES scientists also constitute a network of subject experts with strong ties to professional associations related to appliance and equipment efficiency and knowledge of leading experts and actors in the field. These researchers are based in the Energy Efficiency Standards Group.
