Virginie Letschert received a master in Energy and Environmental Engineering from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in France. Virginie joined the Energy Efficiency Standards Group at LBNL in 2004. Her work at the lab has focused on analysis of environmental and financial impacts of energy efficiency policies. While some of her early work at LBNL supported U.S. Federal Efficiency Standards, her more recent research activities have focused on international projects and energy end use demand forecasting. Virginie has contributed to several projects supporting the development of Standards and Labeling in developing countries, including Chile, Mexico and South Africa.

Virginie is part of the Bottom-Up Energy Analysis System (BUENAS) team in Energy Analysis at LBNL. She was the core modeler developing BUENAS. Virginie is the principal researcher responsible for the Policy Analysis Modeling System (PAMS), a spreadsheet tool for analysis of cost-effectiveness and national impacts of EES&L programs. Virginie has provided training sessions on how to set and analyze Standards and Labeling for several countries including Argentina, Chile, Mexico, and ASEAN countries in Vietnam. She is also contributor to the LBNL China Energy Group’s China 2050 Model.
