Scientists with air quality measuring instruments

Urban and Regional Air Quality

EETD researchers model ozone, particulate matter, and air toxics at the urban and regional scales using state of the art meteorology and chemical transport models at high resolution. They devise modeling diagnostic tools to analyze model performance and the casual relationship among emissions, meteorology, and air quality that are particularly useful in determining how pollutant loading may be reduced to better protect human and environmental health. They also perform modeling to achieve top-down emission inventories of greenhouse gases and to explore the impacts of new energy technologies that have reduced carbon footprints.
