Spyridon (Spyros) Chatzivasileiadis holds a PhD from ETH Zurich, Switzerland (2013) and a Diploma from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece (2007), both in Electrical and Computer Engineering. During his PhD he developed methods to integrate High-Votage DC lines (HVDC) in power system planning and operation and introduced two new concepts. Prior to that he spent a year as a research assistant at NTUA working on microgrids, distributed generation and multi-agent systems. In March 2014, he joined Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory where he is currently a postdoc research fellow in the Grid Integration Group. He is working on methods and tools to integrate Demand Response in the distribution and transmission grid, increasing its observability and controllability to the system operator.
