Peter Palensky is the Head of the Business Unit Sustainable Building Technologies within the Energy Department of the AIT. He finished his studies in 1996 at the Vienna University of Technology and in 2001 defended his PhD thesis that dealt with multi-agent systems for energy optimization. He joined Nodus GmbH (later Envidatec GmbH) in Hamburg, Germany, where he led the strategic development. The respective products dealt with load management, distributed automation and energy-data acquisition and consumption analysis. In 2002 he returned to the Vienna University of Technology as an assistant professor and followed in 2008 an invitation to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Demand Response Research Center. Before joining the AIT he was a guest professor at Hanyang University in Korea and since 2008 Professor at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, teaching Information Security and Manufacturing and Design.Expertise: distributed systems, building automation and energy management
