Marco Bonvini, M.D. in computer science engineering and PhD in systems and control from Politecnico di Milano (Italy), is mainly interested in modeling and simulation, with particular interest in the OO modelling language Modelica. In his PhD thesis titled "Efficient modelling and simulation techniques for energy-related system-level studies in buildings", he focused on the implementation of quasi-CFD models in Modelica, but also on other topics as desiccant wheels, and refrigerating machines models. He also proposed the introduction of scalable levels of detail when modelling system components. In September 2012 he won the second prize at the Modelica Library award, presenting a library named "Industrial Control Systems".
