In 2015, Jingjing Zhang received her Ph.D. in energy policy from the Department of Environmental and Energy Systems Studies at Lund University. Her Ph.D. thesis applied interdisciplinary approaches to study how innovative technologies (e.g., passive houses, zero-energy buildings) developed and diffused, and the structural factors that influence innovation and sustainability transitions.

Between 2008 and 2010, Dr. Zhang worked as a research fellow at Zhejiang University in China, where she researched the environmental impacts of local urban planning in Zhejiang Province.

She received dual Master of Science Degrees in Environmental Management from Xiamen University and University of San Francisco in 2008, with a focus on water quality and watershed management.

Her current work for Berkeley Lab's China Energy Group involves topics of urban sustainability transition and future low-emission pathways, as well as long-term energy-water nexus assessment and policy work..
