Edna Shaviv is Professor in the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Former Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning. Head of the national laboratory Climate and Energy Laboratory in Architecture.On Sabbatical leave from the Technion - Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley. Supervised more than 20 D.Sc and M.Sc students and wrote more than 100 original papers in professional refereed journals, chapters in books, and conference procceedings. As of 1975- developed models and CAD tools for energy conscious building design: SUNSHADES - Determining the Form of Fixed & Movable Sun-Shades. 1975. ENERGY - An Hourly Simulation Model for predicting the Thermal Performance of Buildings (with G. Shaviv). 1977. Integrating DAYLIGHTING calculations into the ENERGY model. 1979. SOLAR_RIGHTS - Solar Rights Determination. 1985. SHADING - Evaluating Mutual Shading Among Buildings (with Yezioro). 1994. PASYS - Design Strategies for Passive Solar Systems (with Yezioro). 1995. SUSTARC - Modeling the Design & Evaluation of Sustainable Architecture (with Capeluto). 1996. OPTIM _ENERGY ‚ Optimizing Energy Consumption and Cost of Buildings.
