Doug Black is a Mechanical Engineer in the Energy Analysis and Environmental Impacts Department. He is a major contributor to LBNL’s healthcare energy efficiency efforts including the development of hospital benchmarking metrics and procedures and measurements of medical equipment and miscellaneous electric loads in hospitals. He is also co-leading a study to create an automated method for tuning models of building energy consumption (e.g. EnergyPlus models) using measured sub-meter data. His EnergyPlus experience includes the creation and calibration of highly resolved models of commercial buildings as well as parametric studies using prototype building models. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MS and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley
