David Reed is Senior Energy Planner for the Corporate Strategic Planning Department of Exxon Mobil Corporation. His responsibilities include coordinating the development of Exxon Mobil's global Energy Outlook, forecasting energy demand, and evaluating issues that influence energy trends. Mr. Reed has been involved with many aspects of the global energy business during his more than 25 years with Exxon Mobil and its predecessor companies. Before moving to the Corporate Planning Department in 2004, Mr. Reed was a Senior Strategic Planning Advisor for Exxon Mobil Gas and Power Marketing Company. In this position, he handled the planning for the reorganization of Exxon Mobil's natural gas business in Europe and the initiation of projects to import LNG to Europe from Qatar. Prior to this Mr. Reed was Downstream Planning Manager in Malaysia during a major expansion of the refinery and marketing facilities. He has also held positions in international crude trading, international aviation sales, and international marine transportation. Mr. Reed was a member of the team that prepared the landmark 2007 National Petroleum Council Study, "Facing the Hard Truths About Energy" at the request of the U.S. Secretary of Energy. He holds a bachelor's degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
