Boris obtained a Ph.D. in Engineering Physics  from the Ecole Polytechnique, Montreal, in 1992; followed by two post-doc fellowships in France and in Quebec city on plasma processes and surface science respectively.  Then he joined the Natural Research Council (NRC), Canada to develop novel photonic devices for telecommunications.  He was part of the founding team of a start-up called Optenia (now Enablence) for one year.  Back to NRC, he has been developing a novel type of switchable glass based on micro-blinds (MEMS).  Boris is co-author of over 100 papers and several book chapters, as  well as co-inventor of several patents.
