The National Recycling Coalition is the organization that brings together the widest spectrum of interests in the recycling of materials that end up in regular solid waste, including copy paper.
The National Office Paper Recycling Project is a project of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and has been around for many years helping organizations to initiate office paper recycling efforts.
Conservatree provides information about environmentally sound paper of all kinds. Conservatree covers a wide range of topics, from the availability of environmentally preferable paper to background information on the key issues in changing paper production and procurement.
The Recycled Paper Coalition is a coalition of many companies that want to help the environment by expanding their procurement of recycled-content paper and also to reduce their paper use. The organization is national but has chapters in a number of U.S. locales.

WasteCap is a Boston-based statewide, non-profit industry supported initiative that provides information on and assistance to Massachusetts companies and institutions interested in solid waste reduction and recycling.
Alternative fibers are sources of material other than trees. Examples include agricultural waste (e.g. wheat straw, rice straw, etc.), kenaf, hemp, cotton, and bamboo. One notable property of kenaf is that it has higher opacity than wood-based paper for the same thickness, so that lower basis weights may give the same performance compared to wood.
The organization most devoted to alternative fibers in the U.S. is ReThink Paper.
