The 'Action' area describes "Efficiency Strategies" and provides detailed information on how you can reduce your paper use.

Methods for improving paper efficiency often apply in many situations.  For example, "duplexing" can be done on copiers and printers.  Half-used paper can be easily reused in printers and in fax machines.

Paper-saving actions fall into the following categories

Methods

Equipment

The ways that you can reduce paper use fall into three main categories:

Increasing the image to paper ratio. This means getting more images on to the same amount (mass) of paper, by:

  • Duplexing (see Copiers and Printers).
Imaging on both sides of a sheet of paper.
  • Paper Reuse.
Using a blank side of a previously-used sheet for a separate purpose.
  • ‘Thinner’ Paper.
Switching to lighter sheets of paper.

Reducing the size of images, or Image Reduction, usually through image combination or n-up printing.

Keeping images off paper entirely, or Image Avoidance.
