Energy Use Mapping in Cities -- What Can it Tell Us?

Speaker(s):
Date:
February 11, 2014 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Location:
90-3122
Seminar Host/Point of Contact:

California is seen as a leader in successful energy conservation across the nation, but what does a closer look tell us about how much we know? Using energy billing data for the city of Los Angeles, socioeconomic information and county tax assessor parcel data, a complex story about energy use patterns is emerging that has not been carefully examined. This presentation shows how more granular data can provide much greater understanding of energy use, provide guidance for targeted conservation investments going forward, and possibly greater insight into a future decarbonized grid infrastructure.
