This talk will introduce main research activities on sustainability, healthy buildings and facilities management. Two centres of excellence at the Department of Building Services Engineering - the Research Centre for Fire Engineering and the Research Centre for Built Environment – are particularly strong in collaborative and applied research. The research topics include Alternative energy resources and renewable energy, Architectural science, Building acoustics and vibration, Building automation and intelligence, Building environmental performance, Building operation and maintenance, Electrical installations and systems, Facility management, Fire and safety engineering, Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and energy studies, Indoor air quality, and Lighting engineering. The talk will also cover the recent teaching and education programs to support cutting edge research needs and latest developments in the building industry.
