Speaker(s):
Date:
December 2, 2009 - 12:00pm
Location:
90-3122
Seminar Host/Point of Contact:

This talk aims to explain what cloud computing is in simple terms, and to summarize some of the cloud-related projects currently underway in the IT Division, including a pair of initiatives directly relevant to teams in EETD. Greg works as the Chief Technology Architect in IT Division, where he oversees technology strategy and manages special projects for CIO Rosio Alvarez. For the past year, Greg has investigated cloud-based options for a range of applications, including scientific computation, collaborative services, and business apps. Previously, Greg worked as a Network Engineer for the LBLnet Services Group. Despite improbable degrees in English (Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, A.B from Harvard), Greg is a lifelong and incurable techie.
