Roundtable Discussion on Energy Management Services with Sieben and Abolt

Speaker(s):
Date:
June 22, 2005 - 12:00pm
Location:
Bldg. 90

Craig Sieben and Bill Abolt have been leaders in developing the market for energy efficiency and green initiatives in the greater Chicago Area.  Craig Sieben has been an energy efficiency specialist since 1980. Sieben Energy Associates is a leading energy efficiency services firm in the midwest, focusing on smart energy purchasing and energy use, and has been in business since 1990. Bill Abolt was Mayor Daley's point man for developing the City's Green initiatives.  He is now Director of Shaw Environmental in Chicago.  Bill and Craig are in California for several days examining the energy efficiency best practices and measures that provide cost-effective means for reducing existing energy load and new load growth.  In Chicago there have been no major utility investment programs; all efforts have been done through the "market" and through political will.    They look forward to leading a lunch time conversation about lessons learned from the Chicago experience and also exploring what lessons they can bring back to Chicago and the Midwest from the California experience and marketplace.  They are most interested in learning what LBL researchers have learned from the substantial energy efficiency and load management efforts of the past several years.
