The HIGH-RADON PROJECT:
Region 3:
Predicted Annual-Average Living-Area Concentrations

Predicted county GM long-term indoor concentrations for region 3 were initially obtained by a Bayesian analysis utilizing the county NURE values and attributing to each county the main geologic radon potential unit, as described in the overall scientific summary. The resulting predicted screening GMs were converted to GMs of long-term concentrations using the factors resulting from the short-term/long-term analysis, and the central estimates of these long-term GMs are displayed in the map (which does not indicate the variability in these estimates from county to county). A somewhat more complete set of analyses have subsequently been performed for most regions of the United States [link to us-cty], using the U.S. digitized geologic unit database developed for this purpose by USGS [link to geol-us when available] and the U.S. meteorological database developed by LBL [link to met-us when available].
