MINNESOTA "SCREENING" INDOOR RADON CONCENTRATIONS BY COUNTY Results from the Minnesota-EPA survey of "screening" radon concentrations (short-term measurements, usually taken in basements) are shown in the following table, along with: - the county geometric means (GMs) calculated directly from the data, - the county GMs predicted in the LBL model using the NURE data, and - the overall estimated GMs using both the data and the prediction for each county, and giving the uncertainty (standard deviation) for each estimate. About ten of the counties are highlighted just to illustrate how the model can provide estimates that depend on the number of observations, that differ quite noticeably from the GMs calculated from the data, and that are even available for counties where no homes are monitored. Subsequent results from the recent survey of long-term concentrations in Minnesota, conducted by LBL, USGS, and the Minnesota Department of Health, may be seen on a Minnesota county map.
