 Ultraviolet (UV) water disinfection is not a new technology, but the small-scale, energy-efficient and low-maintenance design of UV Waterworks has created a uniquely affordable and effective device: typical systems operate using the equivalent of a 60-Watt lightbulb at a cost of as low as 4 cents/ton of water treated, treating 15 liters/minute, enough for 500-1500 people.
