Woody has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University Missouri
Rolla. His research has involved modeling ventilation in
Variable-Air-Volume HVAC systems. His current area of interest is
understanding airflow and pollutant transport in actual buildings with
an emphasis on the Chem-Bio threat. This involves field testing, using
tracer and pressurization techniques.
Woody came to the lab as a post-Doc in 1995 where he worked with the EPB
group in measuring duct leakage in commercial buildings. He has been
with the IED/APT groups since 1999.
Working with HVAC systems is second nature to Woody since he grew up in
a family that had a small HVAC contracting business.
