Doug has a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. His research resulted in an innovative new sensor for assessing personal exposure to ozone.

Doug's current area of interest is to understand airflow and pollutant transport in buildings particularly in relation to occupant health and safety. He collects and analyzes field measurements of actual buildings using tracer gas and pressurization methods. These measurements are also used to develop and validate building airflow and pollutant transport models such as COMIS.

Doug started at LBNL as a post-doctoral researcher in the Atmospheric Sciences Group in 2001, and currently holds a Mechanical Engineer position in the Airflow and Pollutant Transport Group.
