Sustainable Federal Facilities

The Interagency Sustainability Working Group (ISWG) coordinates sustainability activities among federal agencies. Specifically, the ISWG:

  • Acts as a forum for representatives from at least 20 federal agencies to share information about various sustainability policies and programs.
  • Develops policy recommendations regarding sustainable design, construction, and operations of federal facilities.
  • Provides reporting and technical guidance to assist agencies in the adoption and implementation of sustainability policies.

The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) within the US Department of Energy (DOE) chairs the ISWG. LBNL DC Office staff support FEMP by providing technical assistance and analysis of high performance sustainable buildings design and operations.
