Berkeley Lab works with US DOE, trade and professional associations, other national laboratories and educational institutions to design, produce and publish technical materials such as sourcebooks, fact and tip sheets on a variety of industrial systems. In addition, Berkeley Lab develops new initiatives designed to strengthen relationships between US DOE and industrial partners, while increasing industry’s access to high-quality technical information. An example includes the creation of the Qualified Specialist training series, which seeks to recognize consultants, distributors and manufacturers’ representatives who demonstrate the ability to effectively use system assessment software tools developed by US DOE. To receive such recognition, Qualified Specialists must successfully complete a rigorous training session and qualifying exam. The net result is much wider use of the system assessment software tools.
