Nicole Hopper, a Senior Research Associate, has been with the Electricity Markets and Policy Group since 2000. Her research focuses on dynamic electricity pricing, demand response and private sector deployment of energy-efficiency services. In the area of electricity pricing and demand response, Nicole is involved in a major ongoing study of large customer response to day-ahead market pricing in New York State. She is also currently engaged in a survey of efforts to integrate dynamic pricing with default service tariffs in states with varying degrees of electric industry competition. In the area of private-sector energy efficiency, Nicole has been actively involved in the LBNL/NAESCO database project since 2000. She manages a database of over 2000 completed projects, reports on ESCO industry activity and trends, participates in industry conferences and international workshops and provides technical support to NAESCO's accreditation program.

Nicole holds a B.S. in Biological Science from the University of Guelph, Canada, and an M.S. from the Energy and Resources Group at U.C. Berkeley. She studied Chinese for three years at the National Taiwan Normal University, and speaks fluent Mandarin and French.
