Electricity Markets and Policy > Staff > Matthias Fripp Matthias Fripp is a Graduate Student Research Assistant in the Electricity Markets and Policy Group. He is studying whether the daily and annual timing of wind speeds may make some wind power sites significantly more suitable for development than other areas with similar annual average wind speeds. He is also interested in the broader question of how renewable resources can be integrated into the electric system while maintaining low power costs and high reliability. Matthias is a Ph.D. student in the Energy and Resources Group (ERG) at U.C. Berkeley. He holds an M.S. in ERG from Berkeley, and a B.A. in environmental studies from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Before coming to U.C. Berkeley, he worked for Trexler and Associates, Inc. (a consulting firm specializing in climate-change mitigation), and was a research intern at the Renewable Northwest Project, both located in Portland.
