Research area: mesoscale meteorological and
air quality modeling in studying the potential of
innovative strategies for
improving the ozone air quality in non-attainment regions,
and in climate- and energy-related research.
- Research interests include: 1) Impacts
of urban heat islands on regional meteorology and air quality, 2)
Impacts of surface properties changes on atmospheric
processes, 3) Impacts
of uniform and space-varying VOC and NOx emission control
strategies on ozone production, 4) Modeling tools
and improving the parameterization of surface processes in mesoscale models,
5) Meteorological models urbanization,
and 6) Micrometeorological effects of changes in
surface albedo and vegetative cover.
- Past and current sponsors include:
DOE, EPA, NASA, SCE, LADWP, CIEE, UCS, TAF.
- Professional affiliation: American
Meteorological Society, Air & Waste Management Association,
American Geophysical Union.
